Yesterday, I found out the news I've been both dreading and hoping for:  I have less than a month here at my current job.

I hate the phone, which means I won't miss people calling up and complaining about their computers.  Yet, I also like eating and paying the rent, which put me in a quandary for the last eight months.  It's a common dilemma:  do I continue to do work that drives me nuts (and even at one time drove me to give up blogging for a while) just to pay the bills, or do I find something else, knowing full well that I'd be out of pocket again?

Thankfully, that decision is now out of my hands.  I've been looking for something on the QT for a while now, but now I'm going to ramp up my search.

Time to polish up the old resume.

The reason why this bugs the hell out of me is quite simple.  Inevitably, I will run into someone who, despite being college-educated and having been bequeathed with a very expensive laptop, will not know the difference between the two.

Fully 70-80% of my worklog can be easily rectified if only the people who call me possessed this useful bit of knowledge.

My work here is done.
